Easy Brussels Sprouts with Onion and Bacon
A quick easy side dish with very low calories
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts
- 1/2 Medium sweet onion
- 1 tbsp Bacon crumbles or 1 strip of bacon crumbled
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
Cut off the stem of the Brussels sprouts and discard them
Either slice the sprouts thinly or use a mandolin to shave them into about 1/8 inch slices
Dice the onion
Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet on medium high heat
Saute the onion for about two minutes so it starts to soften
Add the butter, bacon and sprouts to the pan and cook for about 10 minutes until the sprouts just start to brown.
Salt and pepper to taste
