Easy Brussels Sprouts with Onion and Bacon
A quick easy side dish with very low calories
Ingredients
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts
- 1/2 Medium sweet onion
- 1 tbsp Bacon crumbles or 1 strip of bacon crumbled
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Cut off the stem of the Brussels sprouts and discard them
- Either slice the sprouts thinly or use a mandolin to shave them into about 1/8 inch slices
- Dice the onion
- Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet on medium high heat
- Saute the onion for about two minutes so it starts to soften
- Add the butter, bacon and sprouts to the pan and cook for about 10 minutes until the sprouts just start to brown.
- Salt and pepper to taste
